We manufacture all types of timber windows, and can replicate any historical wooden window styles for listed properties. Given that our joinery workshop is located close to York, Scarborough and Whitby, we are frequently asked to manufacture and install wood sash windows for customers with Georgian and Victorian window types.
Our customers are often surprised when we explain that it is possible to manufacture double-glazed sash windows in wood. So, there is no need to let your love of traditional timber windows keep you in the cold – let Ryedale Joinery upgrade your sash windows.
The image above shows a bay containing three separate sash windows. We manufactured the new sashes in Accoya® timber and upgraded the windows. The upgrade included our full double glazing package, spiral balances, seals and brushes. We also spray painted the woodwork in our own painting facility as part of the manufacturing process. Our sash window upgrades improve thermal efficiency and make the interior more comfortable. Ryedale Joinery sash window upgrades are available for all types of sash window, regardless of age or architectural style.

The above image illustrates some of the sash windows we recently upgraded for a customer at York. The windows are double-glazed with quality 14mm Planitherm sealed units. We also fitted spiral balance systems, and seals and brushes to the window frames, jambs and meeting rails in order to minimize heat loss. Accoya® timber was used to manufacture the new sashes. We spray painted the new sashes in our own painting facility.
We manufactured new windows for the Village Stores and Post Office in Ampleforth, North Yorkshire. The upper-floor has upgraded sash windows with 14mm Planitherm double-glazed units, spiral balance systems, and seals and brushes fitted to the frames, jambs and meeting rails to minimize heat loss. The ground-floor windows contain the customer’s own artwork. All of the windows were manufactured in the extremely durable Accoya® timber.
Ampleforth Village Store really is a “one stop” shop. Its comprehensive offering includes a post office, news agency, off license, groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables.
We recently upgraded and double glazed the sash windows at the above property in North Yorkshire. The new sashes were manufactured in Accoya® and coupled with 18mm Planitherm double-glazed units to improve thermal insulation. The old sash cords and weights were replaced with a modern spiral balance system to offset the additional weight of the 18mm double-glazed units. We also fitted seals and brushes to the window frames, jambs and meeting rails in order to further reduce heat loss.
The windows were painted during the manufacturing process in our own spray-painting facility. Paint is essential to protect new wood and spray painting is cost-effective during manufacture. It makes good economic sense to have windows manufactured, painted, sealed and finished by just one company.
