Stand-up Paddle BoardWe recently made this stand-up paddle board (SUP). The inner framework is in Accoya® timber and we used quarter-inch marine ply for the outer layer of the hull. Lots of sanding and seven coats of varnish produced the glass-like finish you see above.
Measuring 14 feet by 2 feet 6 inches, at the widest point, it is an “all around” board built for stability in the water – which makes it suitable for beginners. Sea trials were undertaken in Bridlington Bay.
