Cupola (Lantern) Window: North Yorkshire

Example of a Cupola or Lantern window, manufactured by Ryedale Joinery in North Yorkshire.
Roof Top Style

We recently replaced the cupola (or lantern) that adorns the roof of a North Yorkshire property.

The attractive rectangular structure was manufactured in Accoya® timber and spray painted at our own in-house facility.  We fitted the most appropriate double-glazed units to maximise thermal efficiency and added quality fixtures and fittings.  The result, as you can see, is something of which we are justifiably proud.

A cupola is usually an attractive addition to the roof and skyline of any building, but they also have a functional purpose.  Cupolas are designed to let in natural light to otherwise dark areas and to improve ventilation.

We care about the environment, and that is one of the reasons we use Accoya® when manufacturing our products. ‘Accoya is a modified timber which has been through a process called acetylation, a cutting-edge patented technology that enables it to resist rot, defy the elements, and stay strong for decades. Guaranteed for 50 years above ground and 25 years when in the ground or freshwater, its performance and properties are remarkable’. See our video to learn more about Accoya® understand why our timber frames can be carbon negative over their full life cycle.

Sash Window Upgrades: E-book

Andrew has produced an E-book that explains Ryedale Joinery’s approach to upgrading timber sash windows.  The topics covered include double glazing, thermal efficiency, safety glass, spiral balance systems, and our approach to spray painting during the manufacturing process.  The book is easy to understand and contains lots of examples of wooden windows and doors we have manufactured and installed for domestic customers in Yorkshire.

The E-book is completely free.  Simply click on the download button below to obtain your copy.

Timber Doors and Windows

Bespoke Door Manufactured with Accoya® Timber

We are now back in production at our Kirby Misperton workshop – manufacturing timber products and taking new customer orders. The above image shows a door and frame currently being prepared for a customer premises to the west of York. We designed the door to meet the customer’s own specification. The door and frame were painted at our in-house spraying facility, as an integral part of the production process.

One of our installation teams will be fitting the door and frame soon. We passionately believe the best way to achieve real quality is to control the entire process from receiving the raw timber to fitting the final polished product in our customers’ homes.

Manufacturing Windows and Doors

Back at Work

We are manufacturing joinery products again, at our Kirby Misperton workshop, and making every effort to catch up with our order book.

In the near future, we will be in a position to install our products in customers’ homes. We will, of course, be working safely, following government advice and complying with social-distancing guidance for everyone. Ryedale Joinery remains committed to working safely and protecting the health and wellbeing of one and all.
